Late Classwork/Homework
All classwork and homework is due by a specific date, as assigned by Dr. Klein. If a student does not turn in the classwork or homework by the due date then a late penalty is applied to the assignment, as follows:
- Grace Period: Students are given 5 days from the time they are taught the policies and procedures to then be held responsible for late/missing assignments (usually a student that is new to the class or beginning of the school year).
- Late assignments: 50% deduction in grade (i.e. 10/10 becomes 5/10, 9/10 becomes 4.5/10, etc.).
- Progress Reports: Once official progress reports are given to students at the official mid-point of the semester, all missing assignments become permanent zeroes.
- Report Cards: Two school days prior to report cards, all missing assignments become permanent zeroes.
- Making copies: It is the responsibility of the student to find the necessary copies. Dr. Klein will not make copies of missing work (already provided to the student).
Participation points
Each subject area (math, social studies, and science) will include a participation grade that is worth 10% of the students grade. Participation is defined as self-motivated participation in classroom discussion, collaborative group work, and/or exceptional dedication to one's studies. This is awarded at the discretion of Dr. Klein.
How do I improve my grade?
There is no such thing as "extra credit" in my class. However, all assignments (tests, quizzes, classwork, homework, projects, etc.) can be "done again" and turned in for regrading. For example, if you receive graded work, you make corrections by stapling your corrections to the back of the original. The original (and stapled corrections) are turned into the blue basket for regrading. Please allow 7 days for regrading and entering in GradeSpeed. Dr. Klein will NOT make copies for any work that was already provided to the student. Please ask Dr. Klein for clarification, if needed.
Note: If you have missing assignments, you're not eligible to make corrections for regrading. Only students with no missing assignments have this opportunity.
